Do you need mats?

Postby Keith Cooper » Sun Aug 28, 2016 10:58 am

All,

Thinking of starting a new club? Need mats?

I've acquired some mats that are currently sitting in my garage. They are the traditional kind - foam mats that have a frame and a canvass that surround them. They are the style that used to be used by the Derby and DMU clubs back in the day. In fact, the smaller canvass IS the one that was used by Derby and DMU... Because of storage issues I can't easily use these at the Bedford or Huntingdon clubs (I can only store 1x1m mats at the venues we use).

I have 25 mats in moderate/adequate condition. Because they are the old style foam mats they are 3' by 6'.

I have the full frame and canvass to set out a 16 mat set (12' x 24').

I have the canvass and all bar one slat for a 3x3.5 mat (21 mats, 18' x 21'). You could make the missing slat with mediocre DIY skills - I'm fairly confident I could do it.

All this means that I'm 11 mats shy and one slat of being to set out both cavasses.

If these could help your current club expand, or could help with a new club, please drop me a line. If there is a club that could use them I'd donate to the association for the same amount they cost me - i.e £0....

I'm amazed nobody had bitten your arm off Keith,

I'm looking for a venue at USW, these may be invaluable getting a club started.

I've just acquired a few more and the last missing slat (sort of, following some diy) so I now have mats, canvasses and slats for:

1 mat: 12 foot by 18 foot
2nd mat: 18 foot by 21 foot

Today I found out that I could fit 16 mats in an A4 estate. And shut the boot....
